how to get specific domain?

The domain for my website is [url]http://www.—–kids.com/[/url] (no reason to share the whole url here). I recently was contacted by a third party company to let me know that the domain [url]http://www.—–kid.com/[/url] was going to become available (the same as my website but without the s on kids). They told me I could make a bid and they would make an offer on the domain for me. Although I don’t have much experience in this kind of thing, I don’t see the reason to use a third party company and would prefer to just contact the owner myself. When I look up the domain on various whois websites, it doesn’t give an email but says it belongs Profile Builder, LLC ([url]http://profilebuilder.com[/url]). Profile Builder had an email to contact them on their website but it said comments were closed and when I sent a message to that email address, it got returned as undeliverable. Is anyone familiar with this company and have an idea about how to contact them? It also says on the whois websites that the expiration date is June 2012, and I can put it on backorder, but I’m not too familiar with that process. How should I go about trying to get this domain? Am I going about it all wrong? I certainly don’t want to pay an exorbitant amount, but I think it might be a good idea to get control of this domain that is pretty similar to mine.

@spufiApr 12.2012 — I would use an actual register to put down an offer or reservation. Any third party is likely not offering you their service in your complete best interest.

@fine0023authorApr 12.2012 — Not sure what you mean by a 'register'? As I said before, I am also not real interested in going through a third party, but I need help to figure out how to actually contact the people who seem to currently have the domain.

@mixingmelApr 24.2012 — I have a domain name that can be construed a lot of different ways so I have secured the name buy buying a lot of variations so I have a lot of experience with this type of deal. Basically, the domain is no longer "owned" by who owned it before so contacting them will do you no good. The domain is held for a period of time after the person fails payment or no longer renews it so it is kinda what I call "in limbo". During this time it is posted as becoming available and is on the lists that registrars get, they contact people that have various domains similar in concept or name to see if they can get a "bidding-war" going on with the name when it does get released to the public. Once the name is released to the public if someone bid on the name they get it / or highest bidder gets the name. If no one bid it goes back to the domains that no one owns. So, you can either take a chance and have say godaddy reserve it for you and see if they can capture it for you when it becomes available OR you can wait till the date they stated that it is to become available and goto godaddy or other domain registration outlet and get it yourself. I have done this both ways, I have gambled and got the name myself and I have also had them capture it for me. It all depends on how hot "your particular name" is and what words are in the domain, and how many "characters" are in the name. ... Your choice. Obviously, it is easy to have godaddy do the work for you. It costs about $20usd to have them do it at the lowest amount, or you can buy it for anywhere from $4-20 usd depending on who you register it through.

@mixingmelApr 24.2012 — Also, one other note, do not trust registers .. I ONLY use godaddy for all my research. I have done searches on other registers and RIGHT after the search to see if domains are available, they BUY it then try to sell you that name at a higher price. There are sleazy registers out there so be careful.

If this is your domain name then why don't you simply renew it.
