Giving access to other users to edit web content

I’m the webmaster for my church’s website. Some of the members of the church staff (Music Director, Youth Director, Preschool Director) would like to have access to the website so they can update and edit the content for their group’s respective web page.

Anyone have suggestions on how I can set that up but still allow me to have control over the design and look of the website and allow me to add advanced coding (CSS, Javascript) where needed?

I’ve never used WordPress web templates but heard they may allow you to do that. Currently, the site runs Joomla but I’m not sure I want to stay with that.

Any web hosts you can recommend that would allow me to do this (even better if they specialize in church/christian web hosting)?

@spufiMar 18.2012 — Wordpress MU would have done something like it but it got killed and I think they call it Wordpress Multisite or Wordpress MS now. I would still think Joomla would allow for multiple users, but I would look on their site for that info. Drupal might be another option.

@MichiKenauthorMar 18.2012 — Does using Wordpress MS (or even just Wordpress) require knowledge of web programming? These users would need something user friendly since they are not at all familiar with web languages.

@spufiMar 19.2012 — If you are doing the design and not them? Not really. You kind of have to play around with WP to make it more towards what you want, but it can be done at least for a single user. You'll ideally want to ask on WP forums for official answers.

I did some Googling and came across this for Joomla.

Might as well use what you have. It really shouldn't be that tech heavy for them to simply edit a page if all they are doing is switching in text with some other basic stuff.
