invisible form?

I’m having trouble googling the answer to this so I am hoping someone here knows:

Why would someone put a form with display:none in a webpage? There is nothing but hidden inputs in it. The action is the page that it’s in. It’s a complex page and I am deciphering it so I can rewrite it.

Thanks in advance

@rtretheweyFeb 23.2012 — Its possible that the form gets populated and later submitted via JavaScript. I'm working on a project now where something like this is a solution I'm considering. It's obviously not a common practice, but it's not inherently deceptive or anything.

It could also be a remnant of some old code that the webmaster isn't currently using, but may restore in the future. It could also simply be a mistake. Tough to know for sure.
