Vertical Align Middle Nav

Greetings,

I’m having a heck of a time figuring this one out. I want to use the best practice for aligning a list vertically. Here’s 4 examples of what I’ve put together:

#3 is how I want it to look; however I need each box to be clickable. Whenever I add the anchors, it doesn’t seem to conform to the table-cell. What’s the best practice for creating something like this? I basically want to create a nav that extends 100%.

Thanks!
