IE8 problems

My webpage renders fine in Chrome and Firefox, but some formatting is lost in IE8. The menu and the main content is showing up vertical instead of horizontal. I think it’s not reading position or float in CSS, but I’m not sure. The header and sidebar are rendering fine, and they also use position.

@rtretheweyJan 31.2012 — IE8 may not recognize your DOCTYPE statement because you used lower case: "doctype". Try "<!DOCTYPE html>".

@bionoidJan 31.2012 — You have some html5 tags in there that IE8 isn't recognising:

Eg: [B]<nav>[/B], [B]<header>[/B] and [B]<footer>[/B]

I changed your [B]<nav>[/B] element to a [B]<div>[/B] and it fixed that menu you have in the top right corner.

You could probably do the same with the other unrecognised tags and just add some classes to them instead.

@EvenjosauthorFeb 16.2012 — Thanks, bionoid! That solved most of the problems. There's still a few display issues in IE8, but I'll ask in another thread when I'm ready to deal with them.
