Creating a Film Review website

I have self-taught myself html and css and am fine with both, however I can never get my head around php and mysql. So I am wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. I’ve been so frustrated trying to learn this stuff, I’ve been updating all by pages manually instead but it’s starting to frustrate me even more! So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Basically, I’ve designed a site for me to post lists and movie reviews etc. The front page would list the latest 5 or 10 reviews, there would be an index page of all reviews with links (at the moment I have a sortable table that displays Date Reviewed, Title, Year and Rating – which I have to update myself – I would like something like that), and then the review pages themselves (along with other pages with things that I would update manually).

I’ve followed a couple of tutorials on php and mysql but can’t work out how to apply it to this site. This is what I’d want an individual review pages to look like:

Is there a simple tutorial somewhere for this kind of thing (or another way of doing it, I’ve looked at blogs but I want to use my design)? A couple things I can’t understand:
– how to input the information to begin with, one tutorial built a log-in page where you could add new posts but I don’t think it’s secure enough. I tried to find a way to just insert the information directly from the table on mysql, but…
– I don’t understand how to get the information from the table formatted in the above layout. How do I display the individual review pictures/the rating sprite at the top/the IMDb link etc?

@NogDogDec 26.2011 — How about using one of the ready-made blog packages out there (WordPress being probably the most popular, but by no means the only good option)?

@regansJan 09.2012 — Do you need to give editing permissions to the users or just the admin? I too would advise you to use a pre-made CMS. Also, in which concerns the additional information you need to display, you may find it useful to look at the source code of this particular page: http://www.cinemagia.ro/filme/mission-impossible-ghost-protocol-487645/.

You can also input the information through a web form. For web forms with SSL data encryption, visit 123 Contact Form.
