need help with path validation

i have an ‘input’ object of type ‘file’ for uploading files to the server.

however, anyone can type in an invalid path and the whole thing blows up. is there a way to check the path entered to make sure it’s valid?

i tried disabling the input tag itself but it also disables the browse button that goes with it.

<input type="file" id="me" onKeyDown="this.blur()">

@codemulletauthorJan 15.2004 — i used "return false" on the the ONKEYDOWN event. it seems to be the same as your suggestion. the only problem i have still is the user has the ability to right click and paste a bad path.

it's either this or nothing though, so i'll just leave it as is.

thanks
