html email/newsletter

I am seeking to find how to send html hand-coded newsletters through email. All the email services allow users to receive them, but there does not seem to be an option to write/send them. Or I cannot find the option in gmail, yahoo, aol,…

I found a site [ctriq.org/html-mail/] that provides an html option which email can be sent to one or a few persons, but it is not practical for sending to large groups. I could send it to myself and then forward it out…is that primative?

I do NOT want to use a service such as ConstantContact to create the newsletter.

Are there any popular, free, email services that have an html option?

@JunkMaleOct 30.2011 — If you have web hosting like the host I have, they have a built in portal that allows you to send mailshots to mailing lists and without risk of falling foul of the AUP on emails.

Your alternative is to code a PHP script that allows you to create HTML / TEXT emails which are 2 part emails that allow users which select TEXT ONLY emails which is my personal choice. Anyone sending an HTML email is scrutinized on my Y account first, my email is set to not download any images, etc as HTML emails do pose some risk factor to the recipient.

Actually, I've discovered that Thunderbird has an html option available from the "write" window. Choose "insert" then "html" and a window appears where you can drop in the code. I placed in the code for a newsletter I'm building for a local club, sent it to myself and others, and it worked fine.

I suppose I can forward it to the club's mail service where the list of addresses is kept and from there out to the club members. Bazarre?

@JunkMaleOct 31.2011 — One of the points I was making is that email may allow you to send HTML emails BUT NOT EVERYONE will be able to or have chosen not to allow HTML emails.

Do you have webspace, does your rackspace provider support serversides like PHP? If so, you can set up a web based email service that would allow you to send out emails or if your web host / rackspace provider is like the host I use, they have in the USER CONTROL PANEL a PORTAL (Area where you can input stuff like email shots) and send that one email to many recipients (Mailing list).

Its not rocket science, just log in to the user control panel and see what services are at your disposal.

I am assuming that you have a website, do you?

@ixoraauthorNov 03.2011 — I think we have some confusion here.

I can already send regular email notices to the club members in a variety of ways.

Here's the point: I have noticed that I am getting MANY more "newletter" type emails for the last several months and upon investigation, they seem to be "mini-websites". They are eye-catching and "pretty".

They are produced through old-time html code. Most are produced by companies offering you templates and you send them out through that service as well.

I want to do this myself. I don't want to pay a company that offers me WYSIWYG options to dump content into templates. They also send your mail.

Creating the email is fun and easy. Thunderbird is the only email service I have found that has an html option - they all have TinyMCE etc... to create interesting email but you can't do as much with it.

I was just looking for email sevices that have the option. If somebody doesn't want to read it, that's another thing. Same goes for regular email. I delete most of it without even opening.

@ixoraauthorNov 03.2011 — PS. I will investigate the options on my cPanel. Thank you.
