Could anyone give me a detailed explanation of Server Side Includes? What’s its pros and cons? How do you implent it in, say, a table? Do I need to save the page with the SSI in a specific format? And do I need to save the actual page included in a specific format? I would really, really like to know these things. And I don’t want any links, I want a fat reply with the info I’m looking for! That’s what this forum is all about, huh? Helping people with their problems in an understandable way? Not providing them with links to OTHER pages with the same purpose!

@Robert_WellockJan 12.2004 — The advantages are it is widely available on most web servers obviously the disadvantages are it is not very powerful/flexible compared to a server-side scripting language like PHP.

It's like a poor man's version of PHP, but if its your only option you could find it useful for including files, etc.

For example the following would include a file called Lorem.txt into a webpage.

If that means pointing them to a link (and often it does) that throughly answers their questions, so be it.
