CSS Tables (form) highlight entire column

Ok, so I have this table holding this complex form… I need to make an entire column and entire row “highlight” (background color change) when I hover over or select one item in that row…

For example, if I hover over the third column in the sixth row, I need the whole 3rd column to light up and the whole sixth row to light up… (with #999999)

And if the 5th column and 8th row is selected (td:focus) then I need the whole 5th column and the whole 8th row to light up… (with #CCCCCC)

I need them both to happen at the same time, so if I’m hovering over C3/R6 while I’m typing in C5/R8 then they both need to work at the same time. I currently have my page set to do this with the individual table cell, but I have no idea how to do it with that row or column…

Any suggestions?
