htaccess rewrite with the ? symbol

Hi,

i’m running in a problem with redirecting the following url :

http://www.mysite.com/spip.php?article12345 (that was from a spip website)

to a Joomla url pattern :

http://mysite.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=$1&catid=8&Itemid=104

Where $1 is the 12345 value

So far, i wrote :

RewriteRule ^spip.php?article(.*) http://mysite.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=$1&catid=8&Itemid=104 [NC,L]

But it seems to stuck at the ? character, and i have no idea how to complete this..

Thanks for helping!

@DerokorianJul 17.2011 — IIRC you need to escape the ? in the rule as it has a special meaning.
