I am just playing around with PHP trying to learn it and ive started at the basics and now working my way up through databases and forms and have really gotten into my project ive just started with simple stuff with a simple idea and have really expanded on it and think it could be a really cool website, but i am having a few concerns that would love some help with. I have a form were a want a person to enter a username into a form to submit something..how could I use a username from one database (a login username) and use it with a username for another form when submitting information, and then check the logon database to make sure they are a actual user. i have it to where they can enter there username on the form and it goes to the database but it doesnt check to see if they are register or anything like that. also how could I display the most recent 5 -6 comments that have been submitted from the same form? I have it to where it gets put into the database and then $_POST on another page letting them know that the infomation was saved and what the actually type in but thats all it does I would like to show the latest 5-6 comments on the home page and let users click the comment to go to the page they are commenting about….I hope I explained well enough just excited to learn more stuff and trying to get as much information out as i can !! thanks ahead of time

@gooodWeeJul 12.2011 — unless you have a usersystem with password and stuff, this wont be safe.

But you will pretty much have to check if the db username is the same name as written in the input field.

The rest is a little to advanced for me (i havent done anything like that yet) so i cant help you out much more, but i will try out the same as you now ? looks interesting, and am at the same stage as you at php programming ?

@repeater09authorJul 12.2011 — haha awesome yeah the problem I am having is making the login register input fields on the home page and then also having username on the actual form to enter data and that field checks the same exact field it would check if checking to see the username is real or not...does that make sense?...i dont know yeah I am starting out to ive gone from echoing to forms to now basic database stuff like $_POST but would like to start doing more database stuff with functions and crap like that lol if you need any help you can personally email me at [email][email protected][/email] would like someones input that is on the same level most people on here are beyond me lol ! thanks for the help
