Open the root of a CD

I have minimal experience w/Java Script and I need to import some Java Script into a PDF per a customer request.
There are 3 buttons on the PDF (2 of which are coded). When a user clicks the third one I need it to open the root of the CD that is in their drive. Where can I obtain Java Script to do this? Is Java Script even the right language for this?

@PittimannJan 06.2004 — Hi!

I am afraid you have to find a solution in a different language.

Javascript is not really designed to deal with local stuff...

@TheBearMayJan 06.2004 — Might want to try:

<button onclick='window.location=""' >Explore</button>

@PittimannJan 06.2004 — Hi!

That only will work if the PDF is stored in the CD's root directory. But maybe that is, what Rosie123 is dealing with.

The main problem is: how to get working js code into a PDF???

Rosie123 stated that the js has to be inside the PDF ?

Cheers - Pit

@TheBearMayJan 06.2004 — Actually as long as it's on the CD it should bring up the root directory of the CD. The problem is, as you state, how to execute JS from within a PDF...

@Rosie123authorJan 06.2004 — On the PDF it gives you an option to import java script.

I'm going to try and import the code you specified and see what I come up with.

@PittimannJan 06.2004 — Hi!You learn something new everyday...Good luck!
Just the same applies to me!!

originally posted by myself:That only will work if the PDF is stored in the CD's root directory.
That's of course nonsense! I wanted to say: if it is stored (somewhere) on the CD...

@Rosie123authorJan 06.2004 — When I try to import that line of code I get the following error:

Syntax error on line 1
Copy linkTweet thisAlerts:
@TheBearMayJan 06.2004 — Probably can only use the text that follows the onclick, i.e.

window.location=""
Copy linkTweet thisAlerts:
@Rosie123authorJan 06.2004 — When I try this:

'window.location=""' Explore</button>

I get the error: Missing before statement
Copy linkTweet thisAlerts:
@TheBearMayJan 06.2004 — Try it without the:

' Explore</button>
Copy linkTweet thisAlerts:
@Rosie123authorJan 06.2004 — Thank you for all your help.

I got the message: unterminated string literal.

This seems like it should be so easy and it's SO not! ahh.

@TheBearMayJan 07.2004 — Sounds like you're close...did you get it to work?

@Rosie123authorJan 07.2004 — No not yet ?
