HTML5 and Audio

Hi all,

I have a personal website and I use audio tag for my musics.

Everything is perfect except for this problem: This makes downloading audio files from my site super easy. Is there any way to disable save as command? Like youtube did with their videos (it does not allow us to download, only redirects to another video)

Sorry for this newbie question, I searched web but could not find an answer.

Thanks in advance.

@skilled1Apr 25.2011 — Easiest thing to consider, is anything you place online can and will be taken by someone with enough time on their hands.

Even if you disable say a right click option, people can view the source and rip it that way, if you try to random access the code though php or a database, there are stream rippers, and even after that there are programs that will capture and record any audio playing on your computer.

Thanks for your reply. I know one can eventually find a way to download files from my site (there are even some sites exactly for this purpose). But just right click and hit save as, very simple even for computer newbies ?

Fortunately my site is very personal, only some friends visit, but it has always made me comfortable to have full control. Anyway, thanks again for your answer.

it does not appear to have the functionality built into html5 to disable the save, so you may have to resort to a simple anti-right-click javascript
