rolloever objects creating unwanted whitespace only in ie

I have a site that I am trying to update for a nonprofit company that was already done so it would be tough to make wholesale changes to it, but there is a little problem that I cannot seem to fix. I know the index page is not the best but it is a photoshop image in slices that has rollover images that are links to the rest of the site. For some reason only in ie it is creating a white border around the rollover objects but works fine in firefox and safari. Any help would be appreciated.

the methods that you have used have two problems...

[indent][color=navy]

1. The rollovers will not work for those with javascript disabled.

2. No links will not show in text only browsers.[/color][/indent]
