distance calculator using google map

Hi.

I may be off-topic but I guess this thing has also a place in the PHP thread. As what the title says, I am planning to create a distance calculator as a microsite. The plan was to let the user log in and remembers any calculated distance he made. I know the distance calculator effect is more on JavaScript side. I ask for your suggestion on drawing out the project, not for syntax/code, but for insights.

@adamjoonyAug 05.2011 — To use the area calculator tool:

* Zoom and pan the map to find the area of interest
* Click on the map to place a vertices for the polyline
* Click as many time as necessary to define the polyline

The area enclosed will them be output in square metres and square kilometers

You can click the [Delete Last Point] button if you make a mistake or click [Clear All] points to remove all points from the map and start again.
