Confirmation via SMS/Text

Hi, I am trying to figure out what I should be searching for to be able to have a website that can receive SMS/Text messages from Cell users as a confirmation option. I realize that most of SMS can be handled using regular email, for example sending SMS to a phone, but how can SMS communicate back to the site… Like for example I see the option for some websites and TV shows to say Text — SOME TXT to XXXX number… what do i need in order to offer something like that..

I do realize general confirmation wont be a problem, but the above situation is another option id like to pursue.
