Question of Embedding

Hi, my names Jack and i’ve been seaching around for information to answer a question i have. I came across this site while searching and have read some of the posts and I like the level of help users here have received. Im hoping i can get my questions answered here.

Im designing a web site for a local cafe and find that i want to embed/set/whatever a forum post on the main page. This is going to be used by the cafe owners to post in their section of the forum up and coming events that will show up on the site’s main page. I have looked around and I dont like Iframe html and see that it really is not what i am after anyways. What i want is a way to have the text only from this forum post show up aswell in a section i have set aside on their main page. I have seen it done on other sites and I like the idea of a simple way for my non computer literate friends to add their information without having to open up a note pad or html editor in order to add their news on their main page.

Im not concerned about the method(html, xml, flash, java, php) that is required of the website itself in order to produce this effect, but rather I am interested in learning how this is done in any way.

I hope i have explained my question properly and have placed it in the right section, pardon me if i have not. Thanks again for your time.

Jack

@JackfrostauthorDec 13.2010 — That does solve the issue of my client's computer shyness, and i thank you. But I do not think this is what I am looking for either.

What i want is to use a forum as a way to change the content of the main web page's new news section by reading a certain thread of a forum page. I must use the forum as this is directly related to customer feed back and upcoming events posted for the forum subcribers. So while i want to keep it simple for the owners, I also want to use the forum as a way for their customers to see what has happened in the past.

An example is this:

A customer has a wedding at the cafe, and decides to post in our forum of the high points. The owners take this post and adds it to their news site by simply copying the post and adding it to their admin section of the forum. This admin post then is also shown on their main web page so that new, potentual, customers can see it there first and perhaps follow a link to the forum site for more info.

@JackfrostauthorDec 13.2010 — Here is an example of what i mean:

The postings created by the site owner show up under his comic strip, but are made at the forum in his posts. I want to know how to do this. Judgeing from the address url it apears to be done with php but I do not know where to begin if i wish to duplicate what he has done with his forums and posts.

@JackfrostauthorDec 13.2010 — Then again, after i have read some of the source code from the main page, i see similar intances of classes and posts that make me think cushycms or another similar way is how they go about setting up their posts on their main pages.

@FangDec 14.2010 — The forum post needs to be marked as a main page item or that the most recent post is placed on the main page.

The most recent post is a common function of a cms, but if multiple forums are involved a customized function would be required.

If the forum and main site are on the same domain, Loading Page Fragments is doable with JavaScript, although a server-side solution is preferable.
