Question regarding Relative Path

When creating includes, is there a security risk in using something like:

include_once(“../somethinghere/that.php”);

vs.

include_once($_SERVER[‘DOCUMENT_ROOT’].”/somethinghere/that.php”);

The second one I cant seem to get to work properly locally though….

@NogDogDec 10.2010 — There is no special security risk. The second form may be somewhat more robust, as it would work even if the file doing the including is moved within the directory tree. As to why you can't get it to work, no clue here without any details.
