absolute or relative

Hey im wanting to position something i heard that tables werent good for postitioning so im going with css. What is the difference between absolute and relative. If anybody could help that would be great.

@David_HarrisonDec 17.2003 — You can position something abosolutely with respect to it's parent element.

You can position something relavtively with respect to what position it would have occupied on the page.
