please help me with this image tooltip…

things are very simple but it bothering me for a while… now,

boki.pondi.hr/bookshop/index2.html – simple pure short javascript crossbrowser code for image tooltip on mouseover, and it works perfectly for me (FF & IE)

boki.pondi.hr/bookshop/index.html – link for simple xml catalog and table derivated from xml using simple javascript. That javascript code you can see in: VIEW-> PAGE SOURCE; or in IE: PAGE-> VIEW SOURCE; and .js file which is included in html named: Scripts/products.js … ya know what i’m talkin bout…

1.
now, the problem occure somewhere when i try to merge that dinamically derivated table with same bullet picture for every book, and that simple onmouseover image tooltip effect, but with image corresponding to file path written in catalog.xml in picture attribute.

2.
as u can see in index.html there is: window.onload = function() {buildProductsList(‘products’,’politics’);} which loads table named products based on category of politics in this case. now what code to insert and where, when i want, for example, put 3 buttons somewhere around table, one for each category and when clicked, do the table REFRESH first and then list all items from xml corresponding to category clicked.

i’m very sure that many of u knows exactly what i want here, please help me with short school simple solution how to do that, what are those few lines of code that i missed (don’t work in IE and tooltip in IE&FF) and where exactly to put them. i maximally simplified that html xml & javascript code so u can better and quicker see what to do.

i’m sure too that this example will be usefull to many others round here

i would be so thankful to everybody who want to give a little help with some tips, just please be very simple…

@holyhttpSep 29.2010 — 1) If you want to the image to be taken from an attribute value in your XML file then you must make sure that the image URL is a parameter of the function or something similar so you can get its value.

@boki3000authorSep 29.2010 — i made some progress from yesterday, but only some, and allways that part is missing when trying things in IE, damn IE.

http://boki.pondi.hr/bookshop/index.html

now i put all in html for u to see all scripts in one (css style for table and tooltip; javascript for tooltip; javascript for pulling data from xml based on category - politics in this example)

JUST GO: View -> Page Source...

works all fine in all other browsers but not in IE, even the same thing works in IE on my http://boki.pondi.hr/bookshop/index2.html page where is just non dinamical image placeholder and tooltip effect.

please, ...please give me some tips

THANKS

@boki3000authorSep 29.2010 — in IE everything works but tooltip image doesn't follow the mouse, and on bullet mouseover it appears at upper-right corner of that same <td> overlaping the little bullet image so it can't then be moseout-ed to hide tooltip.

what to change to make it work in IE, c'mon ???

@boki3000authorSep 30.2010 — now i tried to implement jquery example "Magnify" at:

http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/imagemagnify.htm , as you can see at my test page:

http://boki.pondi.hr/jqmagnify/index.html

original script works in apsolutely all browsers, and when i implement it in my dinamically derivated table, the images are shown but nothing happens on click like in case of the first one bullet.jpg (not dinamically inserted) in table header.

i also inserted

oImg.setAttribute(window.event?"className":"class","magnify");

to all loaded images

Q: is that easier to fix than my first try with that so-pure script?

does anybody knows someone who knows someone who knows to solve this?

@boki3000authorSep 30.2010 — here i tryed with simple css hover tooltip

http://boki.pondi.hr/csstooltip/index.html

seems to me that it works properly only in FF...

what it can be done here to make it works?

please someone give me a tips on any of this ways to make at least one kind of tooltip work, otherwise i'll be disapointed with this forum at all... ;(p
