Google indexing of multi-store shopping carts

How does this work? I am going to use OpenCart, but I guess the system is similar for any shopping cart….

My understanding is that Opencart includes a multi-store option so that the user’s IP is read and he is steered to the relevant website (Aust, UK, NZ, USA) with a 5th option being a default to Aust. If someone commences their search via Google or some other browser does this still apply, i.e. would the system recognise a UK searcher if he just keyed in ‘maths books’ (assuming this was a keyword); and then take him to the UK subsite?

I think this question is more to do with how Google et al. index rather than how opencart works.

Can you shed any light please?
