Javascript document.getelementbyid help

Hi im trying to run a loop to select the value of 200 chckboxes that are on my page each has id 1,2,3,4 etc i think the code should be something like what i have below but im not sure what it should be exactly

Any ideas

var isselected = document.getElementById(counter).value

Change the id or create a collection of checkboxes.
var aObj=document.getElementsByTagName('input');
var i=aObj.length;
while(i--) {
if(aObj[i].type=='checkbox' && aObj[i].checked) {
// checkbox checked -> do something
}
}
