The latest Virtual keyboard

I have created a virtual keyboard layout in css all contained inside a div. All the buttons are <a href>’s. What I am looking for now is how to make it work.
I have a page or pages with forms on them that need to be filled out. I have included the virtual keyboard under the forms via a php include. Does any one know how I can get the keys to echo onto the form fields. I use a little java script (<body onLoad=”document.getElementById(‘id_type’).focus()”>) to initiate the cursor in first form field. I was wondering if the was anything in php that might help. Any and all ideas greatly appreciated.

@NogDogJul 12.2010 — If I understand the question correctly, it sounds like a client-side issue, which would be JavaScript (or Flash or Java Applet, etc.), not a server-side issue where PHP might come into play.

@paddyhaigauthorJul 13.2010 — Yes I guess you maybe right. I am not sure what language would be best for this application. I do know that it has to run in a browser session. What might you suggest JavaScript or Flash or Java Applet?
