I’m still picking up things on custom programming. I was curious about search fields though, not sure if this is the correct place to post this question. Anyway, I was trying to figure out the best way to insert a custom search in a website to search for a particular service in a zip code. So the user would simply enter their zip code, hit search and then be directed to a list of results pulled from the web. I know how this can be done with a database but the issue is that the client doesn’t have a deep enough database of service providers at the moment so we figured the best solution at the moment for the users would be for it to scour the web.
I’m just a bit lost on how to implement this and was hoping I could be pointed in the right direction. I know Google has a search the web field you can add, or you can have a search field for searching content within your site but I need to have a value already registered that gets tacked onto the zip code that’s entered into a field and then displayed elsewhere. So…
“Service Provider in…” <search field> “Enter your zip </search field> > Return results from web.
Does this make sense? Thanks in advance for any help or ideas!
