Force IE7 to run in compatability mode.

I have recently design a web page where the javascript will not run in IE7 as standard. It will run in IE7 if i set IE7 to use ‘compatability mode’.

I was told that it is possible to force IE7 to use this mode by modifying the headers, but with a quick search online most information seems to be concerned with IE8 compatibility mode.

Does anyone know of the correct way of doing this, or can provide a link.

Much Appreciated.

@Declan1991May 03.2010 — Well having no DOCTYPE puts IE in quirks mode, and I think that's what you are looking for, because I've only heard "compatibility mode" in reference to IE8.
