Replacing text with an image

Hi, I’ve made an RSS sidebar gadget for the BeThere ISP in the UK, they have an RSS feed showing their status for all services, what I’d like to do is replace the status text from the feed “Green”, “Amber” or “Red” with a small image instead.

Here is the gadget as it is now :

As you can see the headers for each entry is large, so I’d like to replace those too.

Any help is appreciated, I thought this would be a css trick, if it’s not please move this post.

@letmehaveagoMar 29.2010 — Basically the code that generates the status text needs to be changed. In your instance it should be changed to display an image instead.

CSS won't allow you to pull off what you described.
