[RESOLVED] Why isn’t my site showing at all in Google?

Hi I am a new web developer, and I completed my first static site about two weeks ago, and I’m worry that no matter what I type on Google , or other search engine my site doesn’t show. I read a book and follow all the possible advice to make your site more findable. I am sure I did not add any black hat techniques to my code, so it cannot be penalized. I understand that I need to make more link to it, and I am working on that, but I don’t see any feedback about my site’s data from the Google Web Master Tools either. I am new, but i do my research on things, so on my part I did my best to make my code findable, but what is wrong with my site, is it the server?

@tirnaMar 21.2010 — If you have registered an account with Google and jumped through all their hoops asking you to create a sitemap in xml and whatever else they might need, then your site should be visible on google within a week at the most - unless things have changed recently.

If you haven't jumped through their hoops then it could take a few weeks before one of their bots comes around for a visit to asses your site.

The easiest way to check if google has indexed your site is to type your domain name in the google search bar and hopefully your web page <title> and meta tag description will come up on your screen.

@WestWebApr 28.2010 — I would suggest writing a few short articles that have a link back to your site, and have information relevant to something on your site: post each article on a different article network site. The Spiders are always checking these big article sites and if they come across a link to your site along the way, then your site will get indexed. This usually happens within a day, or maybe two in my experience.

Don't forget that these articles will bring you visitors: make them good!

And you are ranking well for the keyword you appear to optimizing your home page for:

You may want to remove "Home page" from the page title unless that is the keyword you are trying to rank for. You have very little content and have a very limited set of long tail keywords that you could rank for as a result.

You also seem to have a canonicalization issue that you may want to address.

@benjee68May 12.2010 — there's a lot of good methods in here for you to jump on. there's alot involved in getting your site ranked...essentially what you did was build a nice car but your engine is equivalent to that of a vw bug. without a good engine, you're website is garbage and it's not going to go anywhere. i suggest you take these people's advise and get cracking! ?
