readfile – allow download >2GB ??

i am using readfile to force downloads and files under 2GB work fine, if they are greater than 2GB than they fail because they are too large

[function.readfile]: failed to open stream: File too large

does anyone have any ideas?

@NogDogFeb 11.2010 — Are you using output buffering? If so, turn it off just before the readfile():
ob_end_flush();
readfile('blah/blah/blah');
ob_start(); // if you need it for remaining output
@NogDogFeb 11.2010 — How about your memory_limit setting? I'm not sure if it reads the whole file into memory, but it could be the problem.
