regarding https SSL certificates

I’m currently on a site that is switching servers. The site is using a PHP backend admin system on a SSL connection. The current SSL certificate on GODaddy would need to be revoked and a new one needs to be purchased under a new domain name.

Would switching servers and adding a new SSL certificate require any type of coding? I’m to understand SSL is just a secure transfer protocol; there shouldn’t be any configuration or file updates needed when purchasing a new certificate. Is that correct?

So as long as the domain remains the same, no changes would be necessary for the SSL certificate?
