I have in my main product database where all respective data is stored I have a column setted to int 1 characters: image="1" can be displayed. If image="0" the product cannot be displayed because does not have image.

What exactly is the content of your main product database? Does it have an id with an incremental value? Specify it in detailed ?
In regards to uploading an image, check this link http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=101466 . But it doesn't save the path in a database. I can assist you with that, just give me your specific problem, I'll try my very best to help ?
