Can’t see my persian/arabic text in HTML editor

Hello

I am trying to make a page which mostly contains persian/arabic text in it…I am making this page with HTML-kit and Notepad++…

The problem is that when I select the language in Windows 7 as Fr (persian) or Ar (arabic) and start writing something inside for example <p> </p>, only strange characters show up…this is what I get for example in HTML-kit:
<head dir=”rtl”>

<title>Untitled</title>
</head>
<body dir=”rtl” lang=”ar”>

ãÇáå Ñ

</body>
</head>
but it actually should be in some persian or arabic characters…
When I write in persian or arabic in other applications, like Word or in web browsers, it is just fine…but not in HTML-editors…why is that?

what should I do to get this right?

any input and help will be much appreciated ?

regards
Edwin

@optimus203Feb 07.2010 — Try adding this to the head of your document:
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=iso-8859-6">
Here is a link that might help out if this doesn't work: http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/handson/dev/mideast.mspx

@Major_PayneFeb 10.2010 — If you see squares or question marks instead of the symbol you need to make sure you have the language pack installed necessary to show the symbols.

How to easily download and install Windows 7 Language Packs (MUI packs)

Windows 7 RTM Language Packs now available via Windows Update

How do I get additional language files?

Some symbols may not show because your computer does not contain the font set and/or your browser is not set to the correct Character Encoding. Changing browser's encoding is usually done from its View Menu.

How do I adjust my browser to read foreign character sets?: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/classic/settings/settings-27.html

Due to the wide variety of character encoding available, you may only be able to read certain types of character encoding.

Are you seeing garbled characters? If so, we recommend adjusting your browser's character encoding setting. Here are instructions for the most popular browsers:

Internet Explorer 6.x

 • 1. Click the View menu.

 • 2. Select Encoding.

 • 3. Select the appropriate language or character set.

 • FireFox 1.x and higher

 • 1. Click the View menu.

 • 2. Select Character Encoding.

 • 3. Select the appropriate language or character set.

 • Safari 2.x

 • 1. Click the View menu.

 • 2. Select Encoding.

 • 3. Select the appropriate language or character set.

 • You may need to restore the original character encoding setting to view other web sites properly. If you&#8217;re viewing a message with mixed encoding, unfortunately only one character encoding set may be viewed at a time.
