i have seen in many websites they use
html { height: 100%; }

i normally do not use this what does html { height: 100%; } actually mean is this more of an optional thing or if i use this what significant advantage will it have for the pages i create.

please advice.

@cbVisionFeb 03.2010 — I've only used it when trying to create a column or section on a page that fills the page vertically.

For example, if you want a DIV to stretch the entire height of the screen, you could do something like this:

html, body, div {height: 100%;}
