htaccess to redirect sitedotcom/abc/ to sitedotcom/site/abc

Hi,
I(we) have a problem with a newly deployed. it has url rewriting which redirects sitename.com/gallery perfectly in all other domains except the current one.

what we need is if any request with sitename.com/gallery (for example) appears the we would like to redirect to sitename.com/site/gallery so like this all others links like sitename.com/contact/ should be sitename.com/site/contact

but we dont want the word site to be in the url. so we access like sitename.com/gallery and it should internally be redirected to sitename.com/site/gallery
