[RESOLVED] php framework

Yesterday, as I was reading and studying codes in php, I become aware of the php framework. I researched on it and got an idea of what it is.

Now can anyone suggest or any suggestions which php framework is most suited or should I say beginner-friendly, for a mid-beginner coder like me?

What does this framework’s offer?

Curious ?

@NogDogJan 22.2010 — I've been using CodeIgniter for awhile now. I'm not sure how beginner-friendly any of them are, at least in that it certainly helps if you have basic understanding of object-oriented PHP syntax and usage. CodeIgniter has some of the most user-friendly documentation I've seen for any similar PHP frameworks, however.

They have a couple video tutorials you could check out: http://codeigniter.com/tutorials/.

@MindzaiJan 23.2010 — Ive only really used CakePHP, I like it but as NogDog says you really need an understanding of OOP. I would not say Cake (and probably any framework) is very beginner friendly. The documentation can be a bit hit and miss too.

@blue-eye-labsJan 23.2010 — I didn't like any of the frameworks I looked at and wrote my own, which was a great learning experience. Out of them all I only tried CakePHP properly and it seemed okay. I felt like too much control was lifted out of my hands, and I also felt a bit bored using it. Writing a new one was much more fun ?

I don't know about beginner friendly (Cake's documentation was not brilliant in my experience)... between Cake and CodeIgniter I don't think either look especially difficult to work with.

@skywalker2208Jan 23.2010 — I might take a look at CodeIgniter and see how it works.

@criterion9Jan 23.2010 — I started using Zend for work and have really liked how you can substitute your own parts for any of the "Zend" ones. Like everyone else said you really have to have a good basic/intermediate understanding of OOP to really use any of the frameworks.

@kingdmauthorJan 24.2010 — Thanks all for your replies. Now I know that I need to familiarize myself in OOp programming. ?
