hi

i have read somewhere where in when mysql database is accessed from cpanel normally the page redirects to the phpmyadmin page however if a line of code is added to some php file there will be an alert asking to enter username and password in order to access phpmyadmin for security, can anyone tell me which php file that is and also the code that is needed.

thanks

@opifexJan 11.2010 — Depends on which version of cPanel you are using. Latest versions have mySQL and phpMyadmin separated on the panel and only the domain account user has access to phpMyAdmin... root or reseller account has NO access for security reasons. For the same reasons, ONLY the domain account user can make a back-up of the databases.

when i log into my cpanel i have a separate link to the mysql database and phpmyadmin

irrespective of the version, what i am looking for is when someone even me the account holder tries to access phpmyadmin where any changes can be done a pop up should appear asking to enter username and password as an added security to the database

is this something the hosting company need to do or can it be done by adding some code to a particular php file

thanks

@opifexJan 11.2010 — Not a "normal" cPanel option. You will have NO access to cPanel options or code as a domain user. And really, all the security you "need" is already in place if using a recent version. As I already said, you are the ONLY user that has access to the database via phpMyAdmin AND are the ONLY user who can back-up the databases.

Ask your hosting company.
