I’m creating a new layout and the weirdest thing is occurring.
the doctype is not showing up in ie
in all the other browsers i can see the doctype.
on all other websites i go to, i can see the doctype in ie
if i do a wget [url]http://url.com
It is the VERY FIRST LINE
this is the doctype im using (i have tried several):
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN” “
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv=”Content-Type”>
<link href=”./css/style.css” media=”screen” rel=”Stylesheet” type=”text/css”>
<script src=”
<meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”IE=EmulateIE7″>
<!–sparing you the rest –>
Every time i search any forum or google, i find a post about someone not knowing why their stuff is all messed up and someone telling them they need a doctype or some other unrelated doctype issue.
Im pulling my hair out over here. its going into quirksmode everytime with ie 6-8
Does anyone have any ideas?
Matt
