Removing PHP SESSIONS for SEO

Hi,

I understand that removing SESSIONS is an important part of SEO.

Does anybody know the answer to this? ….

If I activate SESSIONS only if/when a user logs in, will that be ok for the search engines? I’m assuming the search engines will never reach the code that activates the sessions because they will not be able to login?

Yes, you are right with your thinking and knowledge. Crawlers can't crawl the pages behind the login so you can create sessions for these pages.

Basically sessions are not good for SEO because they create duplicity for your pages on your website so to prevent duplicity you should avoid creating urls with sessions ID.

This is not entirely true. If the session id is passed using cookies the session id will not be appended to the url. You are correct that a page that requires a login will not be indexed by a search engine crawler.
