Google hasn’t indexed my site for over two weeks

Hi all,

I am new to this forum. I need help. I created new directory that I loaded PDF files on my site at ~~[url]~~http://www.thecre.com/comment/PDF/MMS-2008[/url] and I want to use google custom search to search these PDF files. So how can I get google to index or crawl my site especially this new directory. Of course my site domain address is ~~[url]~~www.thecre.com[/url]

if not, how would google find them?

make a site index page, link from your front page, that links to every file you want google to index.

Fly1919, what do you mean by PDF files linked to front page. My PDF files are in the following directory www.thecre.com/comment/PDF/MMS-2008. So does that mean that I have to move them to www.thecre.com

Please advise.

I have no idea where all this tripe is coming from recently, but there are several "new" posters who appear to be tag-teaming these "SEO" themes and sometimes pointing to a "SEO service."

Here is a valid SEO reference... Google's SEO Help Page with a link to their SEO Starter Guide in PDF format. Download it and use it--- let the "nouveau SEO gurus" eat keyword-stuffed doorway pages.

No matter how many keywords you use it doesn't matter. Content is more important.

hmmm.... interesting dilemma.

I have several directories for "vacation locations" that have less than 10 incoming links each... (really probably less than 5) and with a minimum of 200 to 300 links out (like a directory does) and these sites show page ONE in google, yahoo and msn for a lot of key words and have a nice volume of traffic. why??? because the content is there and the sites are well designed... except for one that is a mess that I inherited and still haven't fixed apart from the content.

I'm not saying content doesn't matter, it certainly does affect your placement. I just think links matter a LOT more, especially good links.

Don't forget "miserable failure".

That alone proves that content is not google's largest criterion!

Yes, google tweaked their methods to prevent/filter bombing, but they certainly didn't scrap the fundamental PageRank technology that enabled bombs in the first place.

Can i please see the link that has less than 10 incomings, but #1 placement on a common keyword?

it sounds an anomaly to me if it's true; it certainly would make me question some assumptions i've made about how the world works....

Was taken over several years ago and not really attended to except for filling in the image alts, adding a little bit of valid content, adjusting the nav a little and getting rid of the worse errors (there are still a lot of errors). Any external links to the site are purely accidental, real visit count is anywhere between 800 and 1500 unique visitors per day and the site makes money.

yes, my bad, apologies, and thanks for the correction.

the link: feature does seem a little screwy.

i think "link:" might count only HTML <A> links, but pagerank uses found URLs as well, so that could explain the difference.

Actually I do teach programming and web development at a state technical university and at a private university. I also own an internet services company here in Mexico.

So, I make it MY business that people get correct information whenever possible... and here in this forum that assistance is free of charge. You won't find a link to my businesses here or in any other forum.

These forums are not a place to do business. At least that's my opinion and also part of the rules of the forum.

@lukazNov 05.2009 — #On the point of seo, I am using rewrite in htaccess so my urls are search engine friendly, however this means that people can view www.mysite.xxx/ or www.mysite.xxx/index.php which are the same page, so will google penalise me for duplicate content? its not that I am trying to get duplicate info, both pages are technically the same file, just different urls.
