Extending PHP with Java

Works been slow, so I’m just looking into new things to experiment with. Came across an article about calling Java Classes from PHP (a page on zend’s site I believe). Is there any type of advantage to this over PHP alone? Our server side script here at work are primarily just PHP (also Perl and Python but only for some older applications).

Thanks
~Justin

@jfluhmannauthorOct 28.2009 — Nevermind. I think I understand why it would be done, and I believe I have no reason to do it. From my guessing. I'm guessing it's only beneficial if you have Java applications already, and want to take advantage of that already written Java code in some of your PHP applications correct?

I would agree with that assessment.
