Javascript for slideshow of images on website

Hi,

For those who have visited or are regular users of AOL (American Online) website; will have an idea about what I will like to design.

Within an html-code, I have 8 images, namely pic1.jpg, pic2.jpg, …, pic8.jpg. At a point in time, I will like one of them to be visible, while the rest are hidden. Each of the images will be display in sequence. Within the text describing each image, there shall be url-link.

Logically, I assume all the images must manipulated by some logical script or function; since virtually the images occupy the same position on the website. One is visible at a time in sequence, just like the concept postulated at: [url]http://www.aol.com[/url]

But I am having problem putting this concept into a code, i.e. script.

Please can somebody provide me with a working script/function-code. Many thanks in advance from Finland.

@wbportSep 21.2009 — Do a "save as" or "show source" on my link. You would be interested in lines 158-212 (n.b., exact location may change over time) in the <head> section. Note the "onLoad()" in the <body> statement. After the above setup, the slide show is on lines 845-846. I can't find that exact script in www.codelifter.com which is where I got it--they may have something even better now.
