Error: Object expected in IE

I have a piece of JavaScript code, see below, which works fine in FF but gives the error “Object expected” in IE. Any ideas why and/or how to fix it?
function confirmation(id, name, url) {

if(url == ‘types’ && id == 1) {

alert(‘You cannot remove the selected type, sorry.’);

} else {

var answer = confirm(“Are you sure you want to remove ‘” + name + “‘ from the database?”);
if (answer) window.location = url + “.php?action=delete&id=” + id;

}
}
