inserting pictures

Im have a dilemma, I have been inserting pictures using [B]<img src=”image.gif “/>[/B] there should be an easier way I assume by using css but I don’t know how to do it, can some one please help?

@6StringGeekAug 23.2009 — It's not easier, just different. You can assign the div a background image like so:

[CODE]background: #fff url('images/image.gif') no-repeat;[/CODE]

of course you can choose the background color that will appear if your image fails to load, or if the div is bigger than the image. You can also choose a bunch of other switches, I only chose not to repeat the background in the example.

I don't think this option is always the way to go...you can use a combination of both ways to get the effect you're looking for.
