A little "split" Issue…

Greetings..

With this code:

[CODE]
<script type=”text/javascript”>

var the_text=”<span style=’color:#fff;’>N</span>ew York”;
var the_sign=the_text.lastIndexOf(“>”);
var the_array=the_text.split(the_sign);

alert(the_array[1]);

</script>
[/CODE]

I just want to access [B]“ew York”[/B]. Why do I get an ‘undefined’ value?

var the_sign=the_text.charAt(the_location)
