Extracting parts of a string?

I am trying to find a way to take away the first part of a string. The answer may be something really simple that I am missing, I’m just confused.

For example, if the whole string was “Cutthis”, I would want the variable to become just “this”.

@mityaJun 30.2009 — substring() mixed with indexOf() is what you need.

substring takes a part of a strength equal to the length you specify in the arguments, while indexOf finds the index (starting from 0) of a particular character within the string.
