not sure what the problem is!

Hi. I can’t seem to figure out why this site is not getting listed. we bought the domain approximately 6 months ago so it should have had time to get indexed.

The only thing i can think of is that the previous owners of the domain got penalised. Could this be the case?

Can anyone offer any suggestions about what i can do to get listed.

@JackbobJun 16.2009 — Hi,

first of all, listed where?

I've checked on google and it is already listed, try to search "site:www.yoga-in-london.co.uk/" is output all pages indexed for that site.

I think the real problem is how it is positioned, and why is is not listed in the first pages for "yoga in london" or "yoga london", right?

@tracknutJun 16.2009 — The site has no meta description tag, and no title tag. Those are two of the most important things that search engines need. You're making it very hard for them to index you...

Ah, you're right. I missed that.

@svidgenJun 16.2009 — Google ranks pages largely on the number of inlinking sites and those sites' PageRanks. See your in-linking sites.

You either need more incoming links or incoming links from more prominent sites. Take a look at one of your competitor's inlinking sites: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=link:+www.jivamuktiyoga.co.uk/&aq=f&oq=&aqi=.

Additionally, it [U]would[/U] be somewhat helpful to take advantage of the description and keywords meta tags, as well as ALT and TITLE tags, where relevant. But your biggest boost will probably come from getting yourself listed on dmoz.org and exchanging links with some yoga-specific sites.

[B]EDIT:[/B]

By TITLE tags, I actually mean the TITLE attribute on other tags (sorry to the miswording). Don't spam your site with TITLE attributes, of course; but put them in relevant places. Use them as tooltips in SPAN and IMG tags where they may actually be helpful to visitors.
