[RESOLVED] javascript conflict (help for designer)

Hi,

This is my first post at webdeveloper.com
I am formost a web designer with xhtml/css knowledge but NO javascript knowledge beyond adding an existing script to a website.

I am working on a website with expression engine backend. I had to implement e-commerce functionality and choose to use foxy cart. Foxy cart offers a plugin for expression engine.

So I installed the plugin and put the required code in my expression engine templates. On my blank test template everything works fine. When I implement with the existing site, some of my existing (working) javascript effects stop working. I have narrowed it down to one line of code that creates the problems:

This is the line of code:
<script src=”https://mydomain.foxycart.com/files/foxycart_includes.js” type=”text/javascript” charset=”utf-8″></script>

When I delete that line from my <head>, everything works again BUT of course some of the foxy cart features do NOT work.

To make a long story short. My question is:

How would you go about trouble shooting something like this?
The two things that stop working with the foxycart line added to the header are:
– a picture slider script ([url]http://www.serie3.info/s3slider/index.php[/url])
– mouseover effect and alignement for my product <LI> items. this comes from a local js file.

As I said earlier. I dont know where to look and what to look for. I know how to trouble shoot css issues etc. I use firebug. I am lost with this issue and my deadline for this project is near.

any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
kindly
Florian

@floriauck33authorMay 28.2009 — yes. I posted over at the foxy forum as well. I didnt think that I would get an answer because its a fairly small community. So I took precaution and prepared myself for figuring this out myself. Hence, I thought I would ask how to trouble shoot here at the js community ?

Hope thats alright

@floriauck33authorMay 28.2009 — I had to delete the existing jquery link from my header because foxy also points to jquery library and I guess there was a conflict when having both. Since foxy points to jquery lib all my other stuff works too. Issue solved.

thanks
