Javascript validation for elements in jquery panel

hi all,
I have a simple form in jquery panel name #1. i have written validation function for all form elements. I m calling this validation function as bellow:
<a href=”#2″ onclick=”return validate_pan1()” class=”cross-link” title=”Go to Panel 2″ style=” float:left;”>
but here what happens is even if validate_pan1 returns false value , jquery panel is navigated from #1 to #2.
So can can any one tell me the solution, so that if validate_pan1() returns false, control will remail on panel #1 else if validate_pan1() returns true ,control should slide to panel #2.
……Please help.

Regards,
Lots of Thanks…
