"select" event on iframe (wysiwyg editor)

hello i have this wysiwg editor and i want to capture the select event
i tried this along with many other tries

[CODE]ifr = document.getElementById(‘vB_Editor_001_[B]iframe[/B]’)
ifr.content(Window/Document).addEventListener(‘[B]select[/B]’,function(e){alert(‘anything’)},false);[/CODE]

but nothing shows up

if it was a textarea like the one in this forum, things would be much easier
but in the other forum the editor is an iframe which makes it tricky

any help plzzz ?
