Non Coder Needs to tweak Auto Drop Down

I want to know if the the Auto Drop Down code found here [url]http://javascript.internet.com/forms/auto-drop-down.html[/url] can be tweaked to switch from drop down to text field boxes?

I want to use it in a shopping cart and if the person selects US as their home then I want the state to pop up in a drop down and they select the state from there. If they select anything else I want them to get a text field so they can enter their provience, etc.
